The
De La Salle University has long been rivaled with the Ateneo Blue Eagles in the
UAAP Basketball League. Every time these two teams came to battle each other in
the field of basketball, a lot of things are expected to happen. From
player-to-player collision to thunderous crowd yells, this rivalry has made
history in Philippine basketball.
A
charity game, as the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) stated, aims to
help the young cancer patients of the Philippine Children’s Medical Centre
again gave color to the historical rivalry with “Green vs. Blue: Dream Game
2012” held at Smart Araneta Coliseum yesterday, February 05,2012. Current PBA
players reinforced both teams, with Franz Pumaren coaching the Green Archers
and Norman Black leading the Blue Eagles.
Former
Green Archers were Joseph Yeo, JV Casio, Mike Cortez, Mac Cardona, RenRen
Ritualo, TY Tang, and Ryan Arana as guards, and Don Allado, Rico Maierhofer,
Carlo Sharma, Jerwin Gaco, Willie Wilson, and Brian Ilad stood as big men.
On
the blue side were Enrico Villanueva, Rabeh Al-Hussaini, Japeth Aguilar, Nonoy
Backlao, Doug Kramer, Rich Alvarez, Magnum Membrere, and Eric Salamat for front
court, and LA Tenorio, Larry Fonacier, JC Intal, Wesley Gonzales, Eric Salamat,
and Paolo Bugia guarded the perimeter.
The
match ended up with La Salle winning over Ateneo with scores 117 - 104 with Don
Allado leading the Archers while Tenorio on the Eagles.
